Regenerative Leadership

Regenerative leadership is the process of aligning the ways of communication, one’s action and one’s way of being is called. With the increasing coherence and complexity in the present world, regenerative leadership explores the wholeness of university, biosphere, ecosystems and community. By adopting regenerative leadership, the leaders can add value to the continuously regenerating and transforming world.

Regenerative leadership is an effective approach to lead them toward sustainability and future development. As the leaders engage the group of employees in the organisational development, they adopt the regenerative leadership style (Prigge and Whatley, 2016). While ensuring a healthy bottom line, the leaders are engaged in preserving the existing social and natural resources. The leaders also preserve those new resources that are exhausted through misuse or overuse. By adopting the regenerative leadership style, you can do things in completely new ways. You have not to think about what you were doing earlier.

Do you think that regenerative leadership is idealistic foolishness or economically viable?
Several examples explore that we are destroying the world and its nature by various ways Such, fishing the fishes beyond capacity, increasing amount of global warming and reducing the thickness of glacier (Hutchins and Storm, 2019). We are continuously releasing pollution and waste disposal beyond the capacity of the earth. It is the responsibility of people to preserve the earth’s resources rather than drawing the resources faster (Wanjala, 2018). Regenerative leadership shows us the ways how to preserve the resource by utility optimisation.

Regenerative leadership can be explored by several factors. Transformational and transactional leadership is the most effective leadership styles in the context of regenerative leadership (McKimm et al., 2020). The driving factors of the development of this leadership style is the sustainability of the organisation. Regenerative leaders drive the sustainability of their organisations by connecting the personal sense of the employees with the work process. Regenerative leadership believes in empowering the employees (Mahsa et al., 2017). What do you think empowering the employees is effective for an organisation or not?

The leaders can generate innovative and creative approach by empowering its employees because they merge the thought process of the employees and generate creative ideas. As per this theory, transformational leadership is purpose-driven and non-charismatic leadership (Hardman, 2017). In the context of regenerative leadership, discussing the integral theory is very effective. There are four quadrants in the integral theory of regenerative leadership. Above upper quadrants indicate the personal behaviour and personal mindset (Sengupta, 2019). Lower quadrants indicate the collective mindset and collective behaviour. According to this theory, the leaders should focus on the employees, what individual employee thinks and what collective employees think.

For developing the mindset of the employees at the highest level of consciousness, regenerative leaders have adopted the inner work systematically. The leaders can influence the inner development of the employees, such as emotion, where intellect and their systematic view of reality. The leaders can also influence the “butterflies’ mindset” of the employees (Wanjala, 2018). In the perspective reality, the employees have the potential effect on the growth of the organisations.

You should focus on three additional visuals. You should focus on emerging consciousness and the horizontal area of engagement. Employee engagement is very essential in the case of regenerative leadership. An infinity symbol is used to indicate the path of regenerative leadership. This leadership style also explores the hierarchical and collective leadership style (Prigge and Whatley, 2016). The following skills of regenerative leadership would help to gain organisational sustainability in future. In the regenerative leadership personal behaviour indicates deep listening, iterative observation and purpose-driven leadership. On another hand, collective behaviour indicates the collective strategy of individuals and back-casting (Chergui, 2018). The personal mindset of the employees works under the regenerate leadership are system thinking, creative intelligence, global ethics and heightened sense of purpose.

There are Four stages of regenerative leadership.
The first stage of facilitating the resource for personal purpose and adopting the triple loop learning. The following stage is practising the deep listening and connection the though process of others through keen observation (
Chergui, 2018). The leaders would adopt regenerative conversation for provoking the collecting purpose of the employees. By adopting the collective action, the leaders help to prototype and strategize the best ultimate solutions for the future sustainability of their organisation (Mahsa et al., 2020). I think these stages of leadership procedure are effective for utilising the resources efficiently. Would you believe that collecting decisions are effective?

I think it one of the most important subject to spread awareness on the regeneration of ecological and social systems. The meaning of regeneration can different things of different people. As per my knowledge, the interpretation of regeneration cannot be wrong for any individual (Hardman, 2017). In the time of crisis, it very important to develop collective thoughts. It would push the individuals toward the transformative potential of regenerative practice and deeper the significance of regeneration.

How to increase the collective and individual capacity for regeneration of the ecosystem and community?
For developing a regenerative community, we should develop a positive aim and focus on sustainability. In the pandemic situation, it is difficult for many companies to survive in their relevant market with ongoing strategy (
Sengupta, 2019). The companies have to adopt something creative to attract customers through new ways. Transformation of the entire playing field is necessary to repattern the future. Therefore, as a leader, you should reconstruct the entire organisational structure and policy. The government should also focus on redesign the monetary system and economic system of the nation.

Breaking down the global system has become next to impossible in this COVID-19 situation. The business and political leaders are facing multiple challenges in the society, such as high level of stress, changing the expectation of stakeholders, rampant social inequality, constant competition, disruptive innovations, resource scarcity and recession (Hutchins and Storm, 2019). The world cannot return to its normal lifestyle in this public health emergency. Before establishing the regeneration, it is very important to understand inter-connectedness. The leaders should try to solve those solutions that recreate their problems (Hardman, 2017). The business has developed the arrival of new leadership consciousness with a mechanistic, reductive and rigid living system.

The leaders have focused on the evolution of the eternally regenerative world. In the present crisis. while it has become necessary to discover the vaccine of coronavirus, all of the health leaders should provide their collective effort (McKimm et al., 2020). Without the contribution of all of the health workers, it is not possible to deal with the present crisis. The nurses and primary aid health workers would provide their collective effort to control the public health of the world. The scientists should also work collectively to discover the vaccine and to enhance the purest economy.

On another hand, the business leaders are also facing several issues regarding reduction in sales and business growth. In the case of the retail business, individuals do not visit offline stores because of maintaining social distance. As a result of which, the sales of the offline retail stores have reduced (Prigge and Whatley, 2016). The leaders in the retail business to move toward online selling technique. They should communicate with the employees and collect their opinion on moving toward online business. The employees would be provided training to handle and track the orders of online business and deliver the products within the scheduled time. It is also another form of regeneration in the business (Wanjala, 2018). Most of the world is becoming digital in this pandemic and the leaders have guided their virtual team members.

In the growing competition of the present crisis, the regenerative leaders should focus on making their organisation unique. The leaders should support the integrity of the regenerative world at first. In the concept of regenerative leadership, the leaders should focus on having a positive impact the society not only on making the company as a market leader. The large corporate client wants to be engaged in the incremental change, so regenerative leaders should avoid the complicit in the predatory delay. Therefore, I think the leaders can easily recover the situation they are facing presently because of the pandemic.

Conclusion

Finally, regenerative leadership provides a framework for enhancing the regenerative principles and takes sustainability to the next level. Business leaders can enhance the sustainability of the business process for the future by developing the virtual communication system. Under the concept of regenerative leadership, the leaders should position themselves as mutually evolving and co-creative participants. They should collect the opinion and experience of the employees while they are working virtually in the pandemic and recreate or regenerate some new policies and system for development of the organisational process.

What is your opinion on adopting the regenerative leadership style in this crisis?
